Welcome to MagikByMark.com! My introduction to magic was a result of my sixth birthday party. My parents, sparing no expense, invited my Uncle Tom who was an amateur magician to entertain a couple friends and me with some “hocus pocus.” Uncle Tom may have been a little rusty with his sleight of hand but the moment he pulled that first shiny new quarter from somewhere behind my ear and handed it to me, I was hooked.
Since then I have enjoyed performing, reading about, watching, collecting and creating magic. Magic has so many wonderful benefits for both the performer and the audience. The importance of practice and perseverance improve communication skills and increased self-confidence can be reaped no matter at what age you choose to perform.
Audiences are genuinely amazed, amused and entertained in a one-on-one or group situation that is unlike any other type of art form. There is even a healing aspect to magic which can help patients recovering from debilitating arthritis, burns and other fine motor skill issues. Magic is a tremendous hobby for all ages and the reason for this book. I can’t think of a better way to share my love of this craft than to teach an older constituency some fundamentals of magic so that they can experience for themselves the pure fun and excitement of performing miracles for their grandchildren and contemporaries. To my knowledge this is the first book on magic to attempt to reach a more “mature crowd…so enjoy!
